Southwest Ranches

Southwest Ranches is located on the eastern most edges of the Everglades in southwest Broward county. It's about 13 square miles and was formally incorporated in 2000 as the city's homeowners wanted to preserve it rural lifestyle. As of the 2010 census, it was home to a population of 7,345 people.  The zoning is almost entirely rural residential and agricultural so you'll find the lots to be large, filled with grazing animals, farms, exquisite and unique scenery and a plethora of wildlife.

The town has an increasing amount of zoning for recreation and open space, which preserves the land for residents’ enjoyment to deter encroaching development, and to preserve the town's rural lifestyle, which includes donkeys braying, roosters crowing, and no sidewalks.
